I am a Texan transplanted in California 20 years ago. I lived 9 years in Central Mexico, where my daughter was born. I now live alone, work in a county welfare office for the last 15 years. I drive a car that runs on biodiesel, I recycle everything, compost just about everything. I have started making gifts instead buying presents since no one I know actually needs anything. I have a strange and lovely garden, trying to stay with plants that need little or no water. A young friend and I launched a social networking site 18 months ago as an alternative to MySpace and Facebook; we only accept ads from green and socially-responsible businesses, so we are and it appears will be for some time unintentionally non-profit. But, oh well, we love our idea. We are approved by Co-op America so I guess we are good. We love doing it and it keeps us off the streets. It is called MyCounterSpace.com. We agreed from the onset that we would never sell out to the big guys (not that they have shown any interest). Anyway, it makes us happy and we believe in what we are doing. And that's pretty much who I am.
