I grew up in a European household in Kansas, right in the middle of the U.S. Friends often had unusual sightings in our home, like homemade sausage hanging from a broomstick in the basement. I fell in love with languages and European culture, and so traveled a lot and learned to speak Spanish and Italian. Now I teach both languages, as well as Italian cooking, and I am working on a PhD in Education. I believe that self-discovery should be a primary goal of education. My hope is to design K-12 curricula that value compassion, world cultures, the arts, and autonomy. I enjoy cooking, dancing, and anything with my 7-year old son.
