I am a resident of the High Desert. I am also an honorary godmother to Franklin and Harriet, two desert tortoises. I am experiencing a refreshing sense of insecurity over some the technical requirements in relation to the credential program I'm enrolled in, I am trying to view it as a learning opportunity much like my English Language Learners.
MY MESSAGES:

I support efforts to encourage person to person reading time. Luckily I had a brother who subscribed me to Weekly Reader Magazine before I went to first grade. To this is day I have an almost reverent feeling towards books. Two of my brothers were newspaper boys, my father subscribed to 'La Opinion, my mother wrote everyday. My family isn't typical, many homes I've visited don't have books. In this busy and getting busier all the time, time, we need to slow down with a good book. If reading circles, story time at Libraries encourage children and adults to get together, wonderful. If reading a book together encourages conversation, magnificent. IM, Ipods, _______, your technical toy of choice, feel to me to be alienating people, rather than bringing people together to talk to one another. Conversation is a good thing. . .
