Ronald Ligtenberg is Director of Skyway, a project that builds bridges between two communities in our society: deaf and hearing youngsters. Skyway uses new, or applies existing technology to produce interactive music events in which both communities can participate. Skyway created the ‘Sensory Laboratory’ which gives participants of music events the opportunity to experience music through vibrating floors, pictures, graphics, videos, sign dancers, taste sensations, light effects and aromas that are spread in the air. “Skyway is not a charity: We bring together deaf and hearing youngsters who just want to enjoy a great party and by working together can really learn from each other’s culture – deaf and hearing. And by the way, the words ‘can not’ are not permitted in our organisation. Everything is possible”, says Ronald Ligtenberg enthusiastically. Their Sencity events are music events for both deaf and hearing youngsters. With this concept they are travelling around the world as it is still a very innovative way of clubbing.
MY MESSAGES:

Hi Roland.

As you can see, I haven't really been reading much of Ode recently, combined with an internet 'outage' of a few weeks! Thank you so much for the message - now it's time perhaps to catch up with everything that's been happening here!

Although I haven't read all the Sencity blogs, it wasn't necessary to do so to understand what was happening during the cruise. Communication has always come very easily here, and many have spoken of the 'complete' way that it happens here, e.g. with many gestures of body and face, as well as words. Words can only ever point to something, but can never truly describe the Undescribable. Perhaps in some ways people who use other means of communication don't use words quite so much as a 'filter' of reality?

Keep in touch if you feel you'd like to.

With Love.

Adam

Ronald, I was so pleased to find your blog just now. We met last year at the KaosPilots (I'm on Team13). I love to see that we are all connected in so many ways. Your travels on the Caribbean seas sound wonderful. I'm glad to see that Skyway has branched out onto the ocean! Thanks so much for sharing. All the best, Sky

Ronald, First of all I am pleased to hear that this last Sencity was a great succes! I have read all the blogs you have written this week and I was very inspired by your blog about communication. Wouldn't it be great if no one had an hidden agenda? And wouldn't it be great either if people just look each other in the eye while talking to eachother? To be honest the presentation I have given at the Hogeschool Rotterdam was special! I never had the idea before (during a presentation) someone was listening so carefull and having so much interest in me. In the beginning I was a little bit scared by your piercing look, but then I started to understand that it was just interest for the story is was telling. After reading this blogs I finally understand why you just kept looking in my eyes during this presentation.

I am looking forward to a nice coorperation with Stichting Skyway! Saskia
