I am a physician, a retired surgeon, whose patients showed me when I began practice in 1971 that focusing on the person made the therapies work. I took to heart and mind the McGill promise to encourage my patients to get their lives in order and get on with living, promising that I would do everything in my power to help them get on with their lives. I couldn't be doing what I do today were it not for the persistence of that promise in the forefront of my mind. Indeed, I see it as the essence of healthcare reform! And what I do today is work with doctors and their patients to bring care back into health care. Visit the H.O.P.E. web site http://www.hopehealing.org to see how we do this.
