I am a retired art teacher and college-level Spanish instructor. My husband of 23 years, Enrique, is from Mendoza, Argentina and is a professional apiculturist (bee-keeper). I was born and grew up in western Massachusetts. In 1964 I came to Albuquerque, New Mexico from Central America to work on a graduate degree and to experience a different lifestyle and I never left. I lived and taught on the Navajo Reservation in Shiprock, NM for 14 years. I met and married my husband in 1984, and we live in northwest New Mexico, close to Colorado to the north, and the Navajo Indian Reservation (mostly in Arizona) to the west. Our family consists of Sparticus, a golden lab, and Briquete, a totally black cat.

In spite of a physical disability (Cerebral Palsy from birth), up until a few years ago I was sufficiently ambulatory to drive to various parts of the U.S. and Canada (in my unadapted car), travel to parts of Europe and the Orient, live and teach in Costa Rica at an international agricultural research institute for 2 1/2 years. It is there I became fluent in Spanish. I taught grades 1&2 at the institute school provided for the children of the technicians employed at the institute. My life there was probably was the best experience of my life!

I also spent two summers in Panama, and visited Guatemala and Mexico. Twice Enrique and I have gone to his home base in Mendosa, once via Buenos Aires and once after a few days' visit in Chile.

It's been a real treat and such a broadening experience to travel to various parts of North America and the World!!
