My name is Chandra and for most of my life, I have been using dance as a tool for my life. I trained as a dancer at The Arts Educational Schools, London and completed the five-year dance and academic training there. The professional dance and theatre skills training, equipped me with a wonderful understanding of the nature of physical expression, discipline and presentation. With these skills I went on to the Dance Diploma Course at Lewisham College, which furthered my understanding of dance and my skills as a dancer and choreographer. There I also learnt, under the guidance of Scott Clark, more deeply expressive forms of dance such as Release Technique and more in depth physical awareness techniques such as Feldenkrais technique. I have spent a great deal of my life traveling and have a deep love and respect of humanity and all its colours. I decided to intensify my understanding of my self through therapy and meditation groups at various centers in Europe and Asia. I went on to receive a Dance, Drama and Voice therapist Diploma with the Artemis Foundation U.K. This course included Self Mastery 1 and 2 which qualified me as Breath therapist. After this I began to develop the work I am presenting to you now, it has been a very interesting 6 years in which I have learnt how best to accomplish my goal of re-integrating dance into society as a tool toward deeper self discovery and transformation, and serving to develop the higher consciousness inherent in us all.
MY MESSAGES:

Using dance as a tool for life

Energy healing workshop

Dance is a natural form of self-expression, the body naturally expresses its self, and so therefore does the spirit. We are all free willed beings no matter what our situation maybe. Our body expresses in the dance how free we actually are. The body expresses the restrictions our minds have created for it. Dance therefore offers a direct representation of our mental wellbeing. We are free to choose to stay confined or to reach out into the depths of our soul. Dance acts as a guide to the core of our being and it is a safe and navigable path to follow, all that is needed is a willingness to pass through the restrictions of the mind and receive the wisdom flowing from inside.

Dance is the present moment, dance cannot happen in the past or the future and we are welcome to participate we just need to give ourselves the permission. We are the only ones who can allow ourselves to drop into the moment and this is a great leap of faith, but once we let go so much light and love is waiting that the fear dissipates, and we are one with ourselves.

Modern day society is riddled with anxiety, self-deception, anger, pain; you name it, the menu of emotional dilemmas is ever present for us to indulge our selves in. The dance of life is ever changing and it is in constant motion, and in order for peace to occur we must create harmony within.

Wherever you may come from there were once tribal people, and these people are our ancestors. They danced the ritual dances to honour their environments. Nature was key to their survival; they danced on the earth to nourish the crop yield, they sang to the heavens to bring favourable conditions for growth and harvest.

Dance brought focus to their lives, dance encouraged positive outcome, most of all dance held the community together. By dancing together social bonds were created and physicality was honoured, and accepted. A healthy acceptance of the body developed through these dances and rituals. Respect and trust grew to establish a deep connection not only with each other but also with their environment. The dances grounded people to the earth and yet served as a means of spiritual connection which honoured diversity as represented in nature through the fauna and wildlife, as well as the divine creator which flows through all beings.

These roots of the past remain in the present; deep beneath our feet the blood of the Earth still contains the secrets of our tribal ancestors. By grounding ourselves in dance we once again awaken the spirit, the consciousness of this wisdom to help us maintain equilibrium not only with ourselves but also with our environment.

Dance is an ancient tool used by our ancestors to maintain physical, spiritual and mental health. Dance connects us straight to our energy source. Through the physical body we can more easily make contact with our inner world and access our healing ability.

Building a bridge between the outer world and what goes on inside is essential for personal wellbeing and for the wellbeing of our community. AfroEnergyDance is an accessible and enjoyable way of consciously connecting with our selves and others. Dancing in a circle we become one with the whole, and we learn how to release energy in a creative way. Energy build up that has no safe out let is detrimental to our physical, mental and spiritual health.

Dance offers a pleasurable and holistic expression of who we are in every moment. It gifts us with insights of our very core, a shamanic healing ritual available to us all.

The Energy Healing Workshop incorporates movement expression, Chakra Motions; healing the Chakra Energy system, dance as meditation and dance sensation. No previous experience necessary just a willingness to explore.
