Homemade Christmas Gifts

established 11/ 5/2007 2:09 pm | updated 11/ 5/2007 2:09 pm

There are several reasons why I don't like shopping for Christmas gifts. For one, I near sudden panic attacks when I get too close to the mall anytime after Thanksgiving due to all the crowds. Second, I don't feel like Christmas should be about the price tag of a gift. I also have a had time saving money to buys gifts for all my friends and family. Last but not least, I think the best gifts are the ones that come from the heart.

I would like to make some homemade gifts and am hoping I will get some inspiration from Ode Readers. Any ideas on what to make this year?

GROUP MESSAGES:

Great ideas here! One more that I think is special would be to force flower bulbs. Your garden store (and even grocery stores at this time of year) usually offer the bulbs. Most take 12 weeks (too late for this season), but paperwhites and amaryllis take apprx. 4-8 weeks.

To Luci: I love your "green" idea of market bags and also, the cotton washcloths. A few years ago, my cousin knitted some dishcloths for me that I absolutely loved! They are super soft and wring out well, but what I love the most is how you can make them the size you prefer. For me, I like them slightly smaller than the normal cloth.

Joyous holidays to all!
