Homemade Christmas Gifts

established 11/ 5/2007 2:09 pm | updated 11/ 5/2007 2:09 pm

There are several reasons why I don't like shopping for Christmas gifts. For one, I near sudden panic attacks when I get too close to the mall anytime after Thanksgiving due to all the crowds. Second, I don't feel like Christmas should be about the price tag of a gift. I also have a had time saving money to buys gifts for all my friends and family. Last but not least, I think the best gifts are the ones that come from the heart.

I would like to make some homemade gifts and am hoping I will get some inspiration from Ode Readers. Any ideas on what to make this year?

GROUP MESSAGES:

This year, I was thinking about making lavender pillows. Someone gave me a lavender pillow as a gift last year and I love it! I use it every night and the calming scent always puts me to sleep.

Since I loved mine so much, I tried to recreate it as a gift a couple months ago and it was really simple to make! I just got some fabric, sewed it together and left a hole open to fill the pillow with a mix of Lavender buds and buckwheat to give it shape and comfort. Then I hand stitched the hole up when done.

I think I may even try growing some lavender in my garden so I can continue to make these fun gifts.
