How can there be so much suffering in the world when we know that there is also so much goodness? It seems that there is a fundamental disconnect. The purpose of People in Need - www.peopleinneed.info - is to re-connect people who suffer because of their isolation. We help form relationships between people in desperate, life-and-death situations and people in prosperous parts of the world. These relationships include a yearlong sponsorship that provides aid. But our focus is on the relationship itself, on understanding each other and what it will take to improve our lives.

For just $12 to $24 per month you can become a friend, partner, and sponsor of a mother who can’t feed her children, a child who can’t go to school, or an indentured servant or slave. A clearly defined sponsorship plan (with regular updates that show exactly what you have accomplished) will provide training for the mother, education for the child, or freedom for the slave, as well as tools for further personal development. Along the way, our hope is that you will develop a personal relationship with your long-lost counterpart.

Our goal is to harness the power of the Internet for understanding individual suffering people who live in distant lands (along with personal, thoughtful, hands-on interaction).
