Find inner peace and gain world peace
"If man does find the solution for world peace, it will be the most revolutionary reversal of his record we have ever known.", General George C. Marshall.
I’m always intrigued by each day’s Google quote. Invariably, I find personal meaning in each one. Meaning is my stock-in-trade. Of course, whenever they include the word peace, I am doubly pulled to them as peace is my work here on the planet.
For many years, I thought that work was world peace. I talked about it. I wrote about it. I thought about it. I prayed about it. I did my best to live it, and in that living, I discovered something about myself. I’m much more a revolutionary than a world peace worker. Don’t get me wrong -- I think world peace is a swell idea. It’s just that world peace is not my work.
Nope, the revolution I'm called to foment, to rumble, to pursue, to speak, to dance, to laugh, to write, to breathe is the Inner Peace Revolution. I’m an inner peaceworker. The reason is because I truly believe that there’s no way to world peace unless inner peace for all beings comes first.
I’m not the first one to stumble upon this notion, and I certainly won't be the last, but I am acutely aware of the deep truth expressed by Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Wangari Maathei. She said, "In the course of history, there comes a time when humanity is called to shift to a new level of consciousness."
The first time I read that sentence, my consciousness skipped right over it. Sure, I thought, I get it. A new level of consciousness. My eyes were drawn to those words over and over again until I got what I was really meant to see. Here’s the message:
Whoever works for peace on the planet now has to work at the level of consciousness not conflict. I’m thrilled that Wangari Maathei has planted more than 30 million trees in Kenya, and that Jody Williams worked tirelessly for the International Campaign to Ban Landmines, and I’m equally thrilled about the work that all of the Nobel Peace Prize Laureates have done and continue to do. But that’s not all that is needed now.
What’s needed is someone who is willing to hold the consciousness for all of humanity that we are shifting to a new level around the issue of peace NOW. Someone has to hold the space for the solution. That’s my job. It’s not mine alone, but it’s mine, at least as much as I can do of it.
So although peace in Gaza is a desirable end, I’m not in Gaza, I’m in Boston. If I were meant to work for peace in Gaza, I’d be in Gaza. What I’m meant to do is change the consciousness of the entire planet around peace. I need to speak out about Inner Peace Activism, and I do.
Here’s how I figure it: If I can’t be peaceful with the kid who bags my groceries, who am I to demand peace in Gaza?
The evolution of peace is already underway; the revolution of inner peace is growing toward a new level of consciousness all the time as members of humanity commit to inner peace for all.

I love this! This has been my work too for the past few years. I work on myself and encourage others to work on themselves. Cheri Huber at Living Compassion was the first person I read who got me started down this path. She does wonderful work! She says Inner Peace =World Peace. Keep on doing what your doing!! I will check out your website.
