Peace: May we?

The artwork you see above is by Ruth Gendler. She is an artist, poet, author and teacher based in Berkeley, California. Because of a review I wrote of her book Notes on the Need for Beauty: An Intimate Look at Essential Quality in these pages, we have been in touch. At the end of November, she sent me the poem/prayer you may savor below. I cried when I read it.

Peace Prayer

Teach us to love the beauty of the small finely fringed green leaves and the giant eared large leaves of the rain forest Teach us to tend the tiny flames at the fingers of our leaf-shaped palms and the hearts' fires and the stars' fires May we stand next to each other in the bright light of peace

Wash our eyes with tears of understanding Rinse our vision so we see each other as beautiful as wildflowers, as mysterious as messengers from the stars May we taste the honey of peace

May the angel of love whisper in the ear of every angry one May we dance the dance of forgiveness May each soul sing its true song May the music of our souls become an orchestra of peace

May the grandmother of peace massage your tired shoulders May the grandfather of peace walk in your neighborhood May the children of peace laugh at your jokes May the uncle of peace tickle your funny bone

May your body be a neon sign of love and peace and beauty May you know each body as a cell in the body of god Teach us to honor the honey of human religion without eating the poison of spiritual pride Teach us to pray in each other's languages

May the aunts of peace weave you bright shawls May the birds of peace sing you awake May the architects of peace rebuild your dreams May the moon of peace shine in our windows May the sun of peace give us the courage to shine

May the grammar of peace replace the syntax of revenge And the lungs of the planet be healthy and moist May each soul bring its light to the circle of lights

May we learn to make peace May we learn to be peace May we eat the bread of peace May we swim in the river of peace j. ruth gendler © 2003

Ruth closed an email to me with the words below that I want simply to echo back to you as a thanks for 2008, and a gentle reminder for 2009,

“Thanks for your inspiration and your attention to PEACE at this time when there is so much attention to FEAR.”

I just heard the words of a favorite Christmas carol in a new way today. From “Do You Hear What I Hear?” . . . pray for peace, people everywhere.

Peace, sweet peace to and for us all.

As the holidays approach I was thinking of a holiday wish that is familiar to all of us: “Peace on Earth, Good Will Towards Men”.

Although this may be our common wish, we all know we are are not there yet. As an inner activist I ponder the difficulties in making this wish become a reality.

To create outer peace we need to have inner peace. When we are in a state of peace, that state naturally flows from us to all those we come in contact with, as well as to all of humanity.

Many of us focus on the world and how humanity has not evolved to a point where we can live at peace with others, particularly if they have different beliefs, dress, and customs than we have. However, the greater problem lies much closer to home, and is our inability to be at peace with ourselves.

Many of us wage war on ourselves, by not accepting who we are and understanding with compassion and kindness our personal situation, which includes our capacities as well as our limitations.

This state of inner conflict is torturous and so we than project our dissatisfaction with ourselves onto others and judge them and find fault with their limitations.

In order to create outer peace we all need to honestly become aware of how peaceful we are inside our heads and hearts. To do this takes courage, self awareness, and kind perseverance.

We have a great opportunity in each moment to sense into ourselves and listen to our inner communication, in order to know whether we are in a state of peace or war. We can choose to replace angry or self doubting thoughts with loving, caring, and accepting thoughts. When we do this we will feel better, treat ourselves with kindness and will naturally treat others the same. This will bring Peace on Earth and Good Will Towards All!

My holiday wish for you is that you experience inner peace and joy each day of your life, and that you always remember it is never to late to begin, right now, to be kind and compassionate towards yourself and others.

With love and joy, Sheila Radha www.lifemasteryskills.com

There is a site that has examples of aura camera systems at www.auracamera.com that prints aura photos. Has anyone experienced this system?

When I used to look at art work, I would always be amazed by the beauty and intrigue it gave to me. I have recently experienced amazing healing through Dr. Sha's Soul Power Series books, and now, when I see art, I feel its energy and soul. It has been an amazing transformation for me.
